When people think of Kung Fu they think of Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan and Jet Li. When they picture these 3 famous martial artists they think of action packed fighting sequences, explosions and a lot of punches and flying kicks. While Kung Fu does have a lot of flashy stances, punches and kicks, there is more to it than that.

Kung Fu is as much internal as it is external. It has to do with Mind, Body and spirit.

The Shaolin Monks who are masters of their craft (Kung Fu), are devoted to 3 things.

1. Mind, for example Qigong. Using there mind and meditation to control their breathing and Qi to allow the body to withstand unnatural feats.

2. Body, they spend hours upon hours working on conditioning their bodies. Working on increasing their flexibility, endurance and speed.

3. Spirit, they follow Buddhism. Buddhism is their religion, it's how they keep their spirit in check.

Without all 3 of these things, a Shaolin Monk is incomplete.

So for New Life Kung Fu we also practice all 3 of these things, but Christianity is how we keep our spirit in check. The name New Life stands for a New Life in Christ Jesus after we are born again.

The Buddha never considered himself to be a god or any type of divine being. Rather, he considered himself to be a ‘way-shower' for others. Only after his death was he exalted to god status by some of his followers, though not all of his followers viewed him that way. With Christianity however, it is stated quite clearly in the Bible that Jesus was the Son of God (Matthew 3:17: “And a voice from heaven said, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased’”) and that He and God are one (John 10:30). One cannot rightfully consider himself or herself a Christian without professing faith in Jesus as God.

Jesus taught that He is the way and not simply one who showed the way as John 14:6 confirms: “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except by me.”

In our logo you see the two fish. Those are the Christian fish. Also in the logo you see vertical Chinese writing. That is Chinese for fitness.

So there you have it... We at New Life Kung Fu recommend you condition yourself in all 3 of these areas. Of course we would like you to learn about Jesus Christ and profess him as your Lord and Savior, but of course you are free to condition your spirit anyway you choose. We can only show you the way and it it up to you to make the decision.

God Bless!
